You Can Help Promote Safety in the Ultralight/Light Plane Community

The Illinois Ultralight Advisory Council (IUAC), the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics, and the Federal Aviation Administration, Springfield FSDO, are presenting the 27th Annual IUAC Ultralight/Lightplane Safety Seminar on Saturday, March 8, 2008, in Springfield, IL.

The Seminar will be held in the Hanley Building. The seminar will cover a broad range of subjects including Regulatory Issues like sport pilot, Engine Maintenance, Safety, and Equipment. There will be ultralight, engine manufacturer, and accessory displays representing ultralight, sport, and recreational type aircraft.

Our audience is comprised of Ultralight pilots, owners and others interested in the sport. Safe flying is the primary theme and in addition, we have covered topics from all aspects of Ultralight flying. Interests of the attendees vary from pilot instruction & certification to detailed information on fixed wing, gyrocopters, trikes, powered parachutes, hang gliders and backpacks. This year a new topic, nanotrikes, will be presented. The common interest of all in attendance is safe flying.

The Illinois Ultralight Advisory Council is a volunteer organization with the mission of Safe Ultralight flying. The Safety Seminar is our primary event each year. The speakers are also volunteers. The IUAC does reimburse travel expenses for the speakers.

This is where you can help. Our sole source of income is contributions from organizations in the aviation industry like yours. Your contribution will be used to offset the costs of hosting this seminar and promoting safe ultralight flying.

Contributions are suggested in the following forms:

  • Cash to directly offset the cost of the seminar and speakers

  • Door prizes - Hats, T-shirts, Logo products, small ultralight accessories. Drawings for door prizes are held between the presentations. The sponsor and the prize are announced as each item is drawn.

  • Raffle prizes - Radio, GPS, A/C plans, Helmets, large ultralight accessories. The raffle is announced all day and drawn at the end of the seminar. The sponsor and the prize is announced as the raffle numbers are drawn. The sale of raffle tickets provides the majority of funding for the expenses of our guest speakers.

Contributions can be sent to:
